Myeongjong Kang

PhD student in Department of Statistics at Texas A&M University

About

me_mjkang.JPG

I am a fifth-year Ph.D. student at the Texas A&M statistics department, advised by Dr. Matthias Katzfuss. Before coming to Texas A&M, I completed my undergraduate studies in statistics and mathematical sciences at Seoul National University, where I also earned a master’s degree in statistics, advised by Dr. Byeong U. Park.

I am broadly interested in problems in modeling large spatial datasets, with specific interests in developing fast sparse Gaussian process approximation schemes which are applicable for general covariance matrices or those obtained based on discrete or non-Euclidean inputs (e.g., text analysis, natural language processing). I am also interested in computational methods in statistics including optimization, MCMC, and Bootstrap.

Here is my full CV.
